What Makes a Great Estate Sale Business Website

An estate sale business website has one job: turn a family that needs help into an estimate request. Here's what that takes, shown through the site we rebuilt for San Diego Liquidation and Estate Services.

What Makes a Great Estate Sale Business Website

An estate sale business runs on trust and timing. A family settling a parent's house, an executor with a deadline, an attorney with a client to refer: they all search, click, and decide in a couple of minutes whether you're the one to call. Whether you're figuring out how to start an estate sale business or you've run one for 20 years, your website is where that decision gets made.

We recently rebuilt the site for San Diego Liquidation and Estate Services, an established estate sale, buyout and appraisal company working across San Diego County. The job was a site that turns a visitor into an estimate request, plus the tracking to see what's actually working. Here's what that takes, and what we built to deliver it.

A great estate sale business website asks for the estimate everywhere

Most estate sale sites put the contact form on one page and hope people find it. They usually don't. Visitors land on a service page or a city page from Google, read for a minute, and leave if the next step isn't right in front of them.

So keep the ask short and put it everywhere. On San Diego Liquidation's site, a free estimate form sits on the homepage, every service page and every city page. It asks for five things: name, phone, email, location, and optional notes. That's it. Someone sorting out a lifetime of belongings doesn't want to fill out a questionnaire.

Each placement is tracked on its own, too. The homepage form, the city page forms and the contact page form all report separately, so the owner can see which pages produce requests instead of guessing.

It shows up in every town you serve

An estate liquidation company doesn't serve one address. It serves a whole region, and people search by where the house is. If you don't have a page for that town, you're counting on Google to connect the dots for you.

For San Diego Liquidation, we optimized 44 service area pages across San Diego County, one for each city and neighborhood they cover. Every one is built for local search, and every one carries the same free estimate form, so a visitor who lands on a city page never has to go looking for the next step.

The parts you can't see actually work

Plenty of sites look fine and are quietly broken underneath: pages Google can't read, an outdated sitemap, tracking that fires into nothing. You won't spot any of it from the homepage.

On San Diego Liquidation's site, we fixed the search and tracking problems site-wide, rebuilt the sitemap so Google gets a clean list of every page, and rebuilt Google Ads conversion tracking so every lead is counted where it should be. We also refreshed the photos and media across the site.

It's fast on a phone and ready for search

A lot of the people looking for estate help are on a phone, often standing in the house they need to clear. A slow site loses them before the first photo loads, and Google factors speed into where you rank.

San Diego Liquidation's site now scores 96 on phones in Google's PageSpeed test, and 100 for SEO on both phone and desktop.

Trust shows up before anyone scrolls

You're asking a family to hand you the contents of a home, sometimes with real money and real emotion tied up in it. They need proof you're legitimate, and they need it fast. Specific credentials do that. Vague promises don't.

San Diego Liquidation's homepage carries a trust strip right under the hero:

  • 20+ years in business and 500+ estates liquidated.
  • Licensed, bonded and insured, with an A+ BBB rating.
  • Certified appraisers on the team.
  • English, French and Spanish spoken.

Each one answers a question a family would otherwise have to call and ask.

Estate sale advertising only works when the tracking is right

If you've looked up how to advertise an estate sale, you've seen the usual list: listing sites, signs, email, social posts. But estate sale advertising has a catch. Google Ads learns from the conversions you report. If that tracking is wrong, you're paying Google to chase the wrong thing.

That's why we rebuilt the tracking first. Then we brought in our ad partner to take over their Google Ads campaigns and set up Meta retargeting, so the leads their Google ads bring in see them again on Facebook and Instagram.

The work keeps going after launch

A website isn't a one-time project if you want it to keep showing up. Local search rewards steady activity, and most people running an estate sale business are too busy running sales to keep it going themselves.

San Diego Liquidation is on our Local SEO Pro plan, and we run it every month. That covers citations, ongoing link building, new pages, daily Google Business Profile posts, and a written report every month so they always know what was done.

What this looks like for your estate sale business

Put it together and you get a site that asks for the estimate everywhere, shows up in every town you serve, and proves you're trustworthy before anyone calls. You can see the finished site at sandiegoestateservices.com.

If your current site is missing two or three of these, that's the gap between you and the company ranking one spot above you. We design and build websites for service businesses that handle all of it, from the local SEO to the estimate form to the tracking. You can see the pricing here.
